Description

Forest Eye Surgery is a boutique ophthalmology practice located in Frenchs Forest servicing the Northern Beaches and North Shore area. We are seeking an orthoptist, optometrist or ophthalmic assistant to join our team part time (Monday, Wednesday and Friday). We pride ourselves on providing timely, high-quality care and service, and hope our new team member fits our work culture perfectly.

We offer cataract surgery, refractive lens exchange, oculoplastic surgery, medical retina treatment, glaucoma management and general adult ophthalmology.

This position is an exciting opportunity for an orthoptist, optometrist or ophthalmic assistant to step into a varied role in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Prior experience is not essential. We are happy to train the right candidate, but excellent interpersonal skills and professionalism are key qualities for this role.

Duties include:

– Patient assessment – Brief history, VA, IOP (iCare and Goldmann), autorefraction and subjective refraction

– Ancillary testing – Retinal OCT, HVF, fundus photography, anterior segment photography, IOLMaster biometry, and Pentacam corneal topography

– Setting up for and assisting in minor surgical procedures – Corneal crosslinking, intravitreal injections, small oculoplastic procedures, and sterilisation procedures.

– Surgical bookings – Patient education, quoting, paperwork, surgery list monitoring, answering enquiries, billings

– Clinical administration – Ordering of medical consumables, monitoring stock levels, phone triage, equipment upkeep, clinical and surgical audits, liaising with our pharmacy suppliers

About you:

– A degree in Orthoptics, optometry or equivalent experience in ophthalmic assisting

– Experience in electronic medical software (VIP.net) highly regarded but not essential

– Excellent interpersonal skills and professionalism

– Good time management skills and clinical decision making

– Ability to work autonomously

– Strong problem-solving skills

– Australian citizenship or permanent residency required
