Orthoptist/Ophthalmic Technician

Gold Coast & Tweed Eye Doctors is a Specialist Ophthalmic Practice with consulting rooms at Tweed Heads and Robina. We have 4 Ophthalmologists covering all sub-specialties, who work across both locations. As we expand, we are seeking an experienced Orthoptist/Ophthalmic Technician to join our team in a technican and administrative capability.

The role requires a high level of customer service and communication and presentation is a priority. A high level of accuracy, efficiency and the ability to multi-skill with large volumes of tasks are the drivers for a successful candidate.

Roles and responsibilities:

To set up and assist the Ophthalmologist in all aspects of patient care to enable efficient and effective patient management.

Consultation with the patient to carry out screening tests, medical history and assisting the Ophthalmologist with minor procedures.

Ability to be able to answer patient and team queries under supervision of the Ophthalmologist.

There will be a small share of administrative shifts, working the desk and phones.

The successful applicant must have:

1. Experience in an Ophthalmic practice or other Medical Specialist environment

2. A high level of medical terminology

3. Experience with medical software programs (VIP.net or Xestro an advantage)

4. A positive and proactive attitude

5. Exceptional attention to detail

6. The ability to work as part of a team and autonomously

7. Proven ability in the use of MS Word, Excel, Outlook

8. Reliable, efficient and able to work under pressure

9. Flexibility with start and finish times and ability to work at both locations
