Orthoptist/Ophthalmic Assistant

Sutherland Eye Surgeons is currently seeking an Orthoptist/Ophthalmic Assistant to join our Practice to cover a paternity leave role commencing 16 November 2026 for approximately 6-7 months. New graduates are welcome to apply.
The days required are Mondays and Fridays, Tuesdays and Thursdays fortnightly.
We are a multidisciplinary practice in the South of Sydney with subspecialties in oculoplastics, medical and surgical retina, glaucoma, cataract and general ophthalmology.
About You:
Hold a Bachelor or Health Science degree/ relevant orthoptic qualification
Passionate about patient care
Enthusiastic and motivated
Demonstrates initiative and exceptional interpersonal skills
Excellent communication skills; written and verbal
Enjoy working autonomously and within a team
Ability to multitask
Punctual, reliable, flexible
Computer literate
Possess clinical expertise with attention to detail
The Role:
Patient history
Orthoptic work up
VA + IOP
HVF
Optos
OCT
Pentacam
Biometry
Assist during minor procedures
Instrument sterilisation
Assist Administration as required
