Description

The Lions Eye Institute, in collaboration with private philanthropic supporters and public sector health service providers, is establishing a new service at its Midland clinic to support the early assessment of vision and eye conditions in children. The service will work closely with private paediatric ophthalmologists and public sector referrers to provide timely access to specialist eye care.

We are seeking an experienced Orthoptist to join our team on a fixed-term basis. The successful applicant will undertake vision assessments and screening for eye conditions in children within the newly established Childhood Vision Assessment Clinic (CVAC).

The service will be supported by dedicated clinic management and administrative staff who will coordinate referrals, manage patient reception, and facilitate engagement with external agencies and stakeholders.

The successful candidate will be able to work with a high degree of clinical independence while benefiting from the support, clinical governance, and mentorship of paediatric ophthalmologists and fellow orthoptists at the Lions Eye Institute.

The clinic will provide services including:

Vision assessment and screening

Ocular alignment assessment

Assessment of general eye concerns

While the successful applicant will be predominantly based within the Childhood Vision Assessment Clinic at Midland, there may be opportunities and requirements to work across other Lions Eye Institute clinics throughout the Perth metropolitan area. Such arrangements will be determined by the operational needs of both the CVAC and the broader Lions Eye Institute.
