Orthoptist
Description
An exciting opportunity has come up at Sydney Ophthalmic Specialists for us to add to our wonderful team of orthoptists. We are looking for an all-rounder and someone who is specifically interested in and has a passion for strabismus and paediatrics.
The Role:
A part-time position 3 days per week is available, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. There is scope for this to lead to a full-time position.
A full-time position would be considered from the outset for the right candidate.
The position is available for an immediate start.
About us:
Sydney Ophthalmic Specialists is a well-established practice with a great reputation. We are located in the heart of the Sydney CBD on Macquarie Street. We are located close to all public transport (bus, train, metro, ferry) and most importantly are located directly opposite the glorious Botanic gardens which you can enjoy on your guaranteed half-hour lunch break every day!
We have a group of 10 delightful ophthalmologists who are all great to work with and very approachable, and a team of 6 experienced, supportive and friendly orthoptists. Our ophthalmologists regard each of our orthoptists as experts in their field and we provide a team-based management approach where orthoptic skills and knowledge are highly valued to provide the best patient care. Although our team is big, we focus on patient centered care in a small, nurturing environment. We run our clinic with only 2 ophthalmologists working at a time. We have a busy clinic, but it is always a lot of fun.
Our ethos is to provide exceptional, individualised patient care to every single patient, every single time.
Of our ophthalmologists, we have 6 ophthalmologists who are strabismus and paediatrics focused, one neuro-ophthalmologist, one glaucoma ophthalmologist, one retinal ophthalmologist, and two oculo-plastics ophthalmologists. Our patient load is roughly 60-70% paediatrics and strabismus and the remaining 30-40% retinal, glaucoma, oculo-plastics and general patients. We also have an orthoptic-led clinic where our doctors refer patients for specialised orthoptic training, testing and treatment.
We have great staff retention, with our current team of orthoptists averaging tenure of over 10 years with us. We provide extensive and ongoing training, and offer our orthoptists great opportunities to attend conferences and upskilling events regularly. We also pay above award rates and do not work late nights or weekends.
