Orthoptist / Surgical Coordinator

Nepean Ophthalmic Surgeons, Penrith – Full-time / Part-time

An exciting opportunity is available for an Orthoptist / Surgical Coordinator in a busy ophthalmic practice specialising in general ophthalmology and medical retina. This versatile role offers a mix of clinical care, surgical coordination, and administrative responsibilities within a small, efficient, and supportive team.

Our practice, located in Penrith and part of the Retina Associates group, comprises twelve ophthalmologists, two orthoptists, and two receptionists. We perform a comprehensive range of procedures, including intravitreal injections, vitreoretinal surgery, glaucoma surgery, cataract and pterygium surgery, as well as various minor procedures.

Role Responsibilities
• Conduct comprehensive patient assessments
• Perform visual field testing
• Undertake retinal photography
• Perform A-scans using the IOL Master and immersion techniques
• Assist with intravitreal injections and minor procedures
• Provide pre- and post-operative cataract care
• Coordinate clinical surgical lists

Selection Criteria

You are professional, organised, and proactive, with strong communication skills and a positive approach to teamwork. You enjoy responsibility, work efficiently, and take pride in delivering high-quality patient care.
Our patient population is predominantly elderly, so a calm, warm, and patient-centred approach is essential. Confidence with computers and clinical software is also required.

Qualifications

• Master of Orthoptics or equivalent qualification
• New graduates are welcome to apply
