Description

Make a real impact on patient care while growing your skills in a supportive, dynamic clinical team.

Hunter Street Eye Specialists is looking for an Orthoptist to join our established ophthalmology practice in Parramatta.

We are a close-knit team with a strong focus on providing thoughtful, personalised patient care. We value people who take pride in their work, contribute to the team and look for ways to help rather than simply waiting to be asked.

Clinical skills are important, but so is how you work. We’re looking for someone who is warm with patients, reliable, organised and able to take initiative. Someone who enjoys being part of a collaborative team and understands that excellent patient care depends on everyone working well together.

The role

You’ll work alongside experienced Orthoptists and ophthalmologists across a broad range of ophthalmology including cataract, refractive surgery, glaucoma and medical retina.

• Patient history and vision assessment
• Tonometry, visual fields, OCT and retinal imaging
• Corneal topography and other diagnostic testing
• Cataract and refractive surgery assessments and work-ups
• Patient education and counselling
• Assisting with intravitreal injections and minor procedures
• Preparation and coordination of surgical lists
• Liaising with hospitals and other healthcare providers
• Working collaboratively with the clinical and administrative teams to keep the clinic running smoothly

Who we’re looking for

We’re looking for an Orthoptist who combines good clinical standards with a practical, positive approach.

• Genuinely enjoys working with patients
• Is calm, friendly and professional
• Takes responsibility and shows initiative
• Is organised and able to prioritise in a busy clinic
• Has strong attention to detail
• Works collaboratively and is willing to help others
• Is comfortable giving and receiving feedback
• Is keen to learn and continue developing professionally

Experience is welcome, but attitude and fit matter enormously to us. We’re equally happy to hear from an experienced Orthoptist or a great new graduate. You’ll be working alongside experienced clinicians who are generous with their knowledge and supportive of ongoing learning.

What we offer

We want HSES to be somewhere people enjoy coming to work and are proud to be part of.
You’ll have access to modern ophthalmic technology, varied and interesting clinical work, and the opportunity to develop your skills across different areas of ophthalmology.

We also believe that a good workplace should allow people to have a life outside it. We work hard and maintain high standards, while aiming to provide a supportive, fair and flexible working environment.
