Description

We are a small ophthalmology practice with 4 ophthalmologists, receptionists, orthoptists and technicians. Our doctors cover specialties in Medical Retina, Uveitis, Glaucoma, Cataract, Cornea and General Ophthalmology. We are seeking an Orthoptist to join our lovely team on a Full-time basis with potential of flexible days. New graduates are encouraged to apply. Training will be provided.

Duties

• General ophthalmology and orthoptic assessments
• Ancillary testing including OCT, HVF, Optos, Visucam, Verion, Pentacam, Autorefractor and IOL Master
• Ability to work across all subspecialties represented in the clinic including cataract surgery, general ophthalmology, medical retina, uveitis, cornea, anterior segment surgery and glaucoma
• Participates in quality audits, management of surgical lists and other quality improvement processes
• Assist in the management of the flow of the clinic, especially during busy periods
• Assist in minor surgical procedures including those requiring aseptic and sterile techniques as well as managing injection lists and paperwork
• Order and manage sample stock and general maintenance duties
• Participate in patient education including written/verbal information to patients and their families regarding procedures and diagnostic tests
• Assist in the running of the clinic including general telephone queries and administrative duties
• Request and order clinic supplies as needed
• Check clinical rooms are stocked and consumables/instruments are replaced
• Other duties as directed by the Ophthalmologist or Practice Manager

• Ensure confidentiality is maintained at all times

• Participation in team meetings

Other Relevant Skills and Requirements

• Maintain effective time management and problem-solving skills
• Take responsibility for own work and workplace
• Participate in the training and supervision of orthoptic students as well as new staff members
• Follow practice policy, procedures and safe work practices
• Proficient with Microsoft Word and other modern technology including applications such as Outlook and Best Practice VIP.net.
• Obtain ‘National Police Check’ and ‘Working with Children Check’

Minimum Qualification

• Orthoptics degree or equivalent
