About Us:
Located in Brookvale on Sydney’s beautiful Northern Beaches, Northern Beaches Cataract Retina Glaucoma (NBCRG) is a large, multidisciplinary ophthalmology practice with a reputation founded on clinical excellence and compassionate care.
We are home to thirteen experienced ophthalmology specialists, offering sub-specialty care in cataract, retina, glaucoma, paediatrics, adult strabismus, cornea, oculoplastics, uveitis, and general ophthalmology. We provide support through our friendly clinical team comprised of 7 orthoptists, 1 clinical optometrist and 1 ophthalmic nurse, all dedicated to providing high quality patient care.
About the Role:
As an Orthoptist at NBCRG, you will be part of a team of Orthoptists responsible for providing quality orthoptic and ophthalmic care to adult and paediatric patients. This includes performing diagnostic tests as per clinic protocols, assisting with minor surgical procedures, patient education, and treatment of eye movement disorders.
This role requires strong multitasking skills, attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment where clinical excellence and patient experience are paramount.
Key Responsibilities:
• Screening tests a wide variety of patients (VA / IOP with iCare and GAT / Subjective refractions / Cover tests / Ocular motility Stereopsis tests /Colour vision tests
• Diagnostic imaging (Heidelberg OCT / Optos / Humphrey Visual Fields /Specular microscopy / Autorefractions/ Pentacam topography / iTrace / Biometry with IOL Master 700 / Applanation biometry )
(Note: Training will be provided for any unfamiliar imaging equipment)
• Assisting doctors with intravitreal injections and minor surgical procedures
• Depending on experience, may participate in Clinical trials &/or teaching students
• Assist with some administrative tasks e.g. letters and surgical lists
• Balancing multiple tasks and priorities throughout the day
Requirements:
• Prior experience working in a position within the ophthalmic industry preferred
• Excellent organisational and communication skills
• Proven ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
• Proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• A commitment to delivering high-quality, patient-centered care
