Do you enjoy your Orthoptist role but would like to upskill into management? Is administration and management skills a strength you would like to build on? We are looking for an Orthoptist interested in stepping into the role of Practice Manager.

About us:
We are a group of Ophthalmologists setting up a modern practice in the lower north shore specialising in refractive, corneal and vitreoretinal surgery, as well as general ophthalmology. We are looking for a Practice Manager to join us.

We plan to initially employ two Ophthalmologists, an Optometrist, a technician, and administration staff along with this role, who will support our clinicians and patients, in a state of the art modern practice. Our doctors have expertise in general ophthalmology, cornea and refractive surgery, cataract surgery including premium lens implants and refractive lens exchange, medical retina and vitreoretinal surgery. Our vision is to provide leading edge and empathetic care to all our patients and to build a team that loves working together and enjoys coming to work.

About you:
We are seeking a practice manager. Our ideal candidate is an orthoptist who would like to progress their career in practice management or has pre-existing management experience. You pride yourself in your work ethic, team-building skills, and attention to detail. You thrive in bringing together a dynamic team and ensuring a smooth well-functioning practice, whilst enjoying utilising your clinical skills as an Orthoptist.
You will work in close collaboration with our Ophthalmologists and Optometrist, along with our other clinical and administration staff.

Key duties:
Management/Admin skills:
• Managing Surgeon’s diary
• Utilising Xestro Medical Software for all consulting/theatre booking duties
• Overseeing consulting sessions
• Theatre booking, quoting, and billing (training provided if required), including ensuring all lenses/corneal grafts etc are booked appropriately, and surgery payment taken in advance
• Team building skills – including administrating and managing weekly practice meetings
• Managing staff including appraisals and HR requirements
• Maintain and monitor timesheets and leave requests
• Staff rostering
• Managing patient complaints
• Stock control, ordering consumables, and paying invoices
• Management of Associates as the practice grows
• Assistance in marketing to referrers
• Developing strategies for change and growth
• Extremely well presented, verbally, in writing, and personally

Clinical skills-
• First point of clinical support for patients
• Orthoptic work-ups
• Refractions
• Liaison for laser patients
• Interest in learning to assist with laser refractive surgery when required

Experience:
• Must have a minimum of 1 year experience as an Orthoptist
• Experience in a senior administrative role would be viewed highly

Hours/days:
• Monday to Friday, 8:00am till 4:30pm
