About the role

Reporting to the Clinical Team Leader, the Orthoptist role is a part-time position working 2 days (16 hours) per week on a rotating fortnightly roster that includes Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

This role is a maternity cover for a 5-month fixed-term period, with the possibility of becoming permanent part-time at the end of the 5-month period.

You will be working across 4 locations namely Hurstville, Miranda, Caringbah and Wollongong. Parking is provided at some sites and all clinic locations are located within walking distance of public transport.

Training will be provided to the successful candidate.

Responsibilities include:
• Patient screening including histories, VA and IOP
• OCT and retinal imaging
• A scan, Verion and Pentacam measurement
• Refraction
• Visual field testing
• Fluorescein angiography
• Assisting with minor procedures including intravitreal injections
• Sterilisation
• Organisation of patient surgeries including booking and preparing theatre lists
• Dealing with patient queries
• Administrative duties
Skills, experience, and attributes required:
• Bachelor of Orthoptics in Applied Sciences or Master of Orthoptics
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Customer focused
• Demonstrated computer literacy
• Capable of learning and adapting to new technology in providing patient treatments
• Demonstrated written, verbal, and interpersonal skills
• Effective time management, organisation, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to maintain a high level of professionalism and confidentiality
