opportunity The Save Sight Institute (SSI) is a Centre of
The University of Sydney, within the Faculty of Medicine and
Health, located on the campus of Sydney Eye Hospital in Macquar-
ie Street, Sydney. It was established in 1985 and has
grown to be one of the top three ophthalmic research institutes
in Australia, is internationally recognized as a center
of innovative research into ophthalmology and as a centre of
excellence for clinical research, learning and teaching. The
Clinical Orthoptist will provide delivery of Orthoptic
services across a spectrum of ophthalmic services with a focus
on rare conditions, specialist investigation, research,
education and electrophysiology. They support and prepare the
clinic for the operations of clinical services which also
encompass integrated clinics with NSW health, and play a crucial
role supporting natural history research, clinical trials,
and electrophysiology. They are also responsible for ensuring
work, health and safety standards are observed in their
work area. Your key responsibilities will be to: • perform
orthoptic, ophthalmic, and electrophysiology testing followin-
g clinical protocols • manage patient workflow and maintain
accurate records • participate in professional development
and conduct educational sessions • arrange medical assessm-
ents and monitor ophthalmic consumables • collaborate
with team members to support clinics and research • work collabo-
ratively with all members of the team and SESLHD staff
to provide effective, efficient and reliable support to ensure
service delivery for integrated clinics, clinical trials
and natural history research • ensure compliance with health
and safety standards, including the safe storage of medicine
and disposal of hazardous substances. About you • Bachel-
ors or Masters degree or equivalent in Orthoptics of relevan-
t training experience • active registration with the
Australian Orthoptic Board • competency in excel, word and
Microsoft teams and adapts to change • experience or knowledge
of handling hazardous substances. • willingness to learn
or experienced in electrophysiology and technical knowledge
in research methodologies. • excellent communication skills
to provide technical support and training. • knowledge of
health and safety regulations related to patient care Note
