Job Description:

Practice Profile: Our fast-paced, dynamic practice
with state-of-the-art facilities and equipment, is conveniently
located in Bondi Junction and Miranda (both walking distance
to bus/train interchanges). We cover general ophthalmology
and a wide variety of subspecialty areas, including cataract
& refractive surgery (LASIK, surface laser, implantable
collamer lenses and refractive lens exchange), paediatric ophthal-
mology and strabismus, Botox, medical retina, glaucoma,
and corneal surgery (including transplants, intracorneal ring
segments, corneal cross-linking, topo-guided PRK). Hence,
there is a wide and varied range of clinical conditions and
experience. Position Profile: This is an exciting opportunit-
y for an orthoptist or orthoptic assistant, who will be
working with the two ophthalmologists and an orthoptic team.
We are looking for enthusiastic, self-motivated staff. The
candidate must be a team player, with good communication skills
and phone manner. You will work in close collaboration
with the ophthalmologists. We are looking for a dedicated,
friendly professional whose primary focus is patient care. The
successful candidate will join us in striving to expand our
clinics and be wholeheartedly interested in patient care
and satisfaction. Skills and experience desired but not essenti-
al: • Bachelor of Health Science Degree / relevant Orthopti-
cs qualification. • Demonstrated written, verbal and
interpersonal skills. • Effective time management, priority
management and problem-solving skills. • Flexibility – able
to adjust hours according to clinical needs. • Previous refract-
ive surgery experience desirable, but not essential. The
successful candidate will have excellent communication
and interpersonal skills, time management and organisation
skills, have a strong commitment to providing the highest level
of patient care and be able to work independently, as well
as working as an essential member of a cohesive team.
Role includes (depending on previous experience and training): -
• Patient history • Orthoptic work-ups • Refractions
(automated phoropter & digital charts), VA, IOP checks (Goldmann
and iCare tonometer) • Humphrey Visual Fields • Biometry
(Lenstar) • Topography / Tomography. Corneal OCT tomography-
• Wavefront aberrometry • Specular microscopy • Spectral
domain OCT / OCT angiography / fundus camera / Optos
widefield imaging / imaging for fluorescein angiography • Hess
tests and synoptophore • Paediatric and strabismus assessment-
s • Assistance in procedures: intravitreal injections,
collagen cross-linking, temporal artery biopsy etc • Assistance
with Ultrasound – A-scan (immersion and contact), anterior
(UBM) and posterior segment B-scan • Work collaboratively
with ophthalmologists, orthoptists and administration staff. -
• Business/Relationship development and management •
Ad hoc administration support, as required. Training will
be provided. New graduates welcome (can apply in final year
of training). Candidates with an optometric background
