Sydney Ophthalmic Specialists is a world class private ophthalmology clinic specialising in children and adult eye care. We are located on Macquarie Street in the heart of the Sydney CBD opposite the beautiful Botanical Gardens. We strive to provide exceptional eye care in a kind and supportive environment. We have a great team of 10 ophthalmologists, 6 orthoptists and 5 reception staff.

About the role

Permanent Part Time 2 days / week

A wonderful opportunity is available for a part time Medical Receptionist to join our friendly, dedicated team.

We are looking for a bright, enthusiastic and hard-working team player.

Previous experience in a medical reception role is essential and the ideal candidate will have knowledge of Genie medical software. Ophthalmology reception experience will be highly regarded.

The position will require you work 2 weekdays each week. This will be approximately 9 hours per day depending on your roster. The days of work required can be flexible for the right candidate, however, you must be available to work on Fridays.

Our clinic is easily accessed by public transport.


Meeting and greeting patients
Creating a warm and welcoming environment for patients
Managing patient appointments
Managing patients records confidentially and efficiently
Fantastic phone manner
Surgery bookings, including financial consent
Communication with other health professionals and organisations
Relief typing of medical reports

Skills and experience


Previous experience at an ophthalmology practice will be highly regarded
Proven administration skills and attention to detail
Previous experience with Genie medical software
Ability to follow established processes and perform duties according to practice policies and procedures
Professional phone manner
Outstanding customer service skills
High accuracy and attention to detail
High level of computer competency
Ability to multitask and work under pressure is a must
Ability to work independently and in a team environment
Willingness to learn and be directed
Knowledge of Medicare, DVA and Health Fund billing/online claiming will be highly regarded
